Natural Art Supplies Giveaway

Since bringing Enki and other Waldorf-inspired ideas and traditions into our home, we’ve been more mindful of using natural materials in almost everything we do. We have long been mindful of the things we put into or on our bodies, and clean our home with, but we are now entering a whole new world of Waldorf-like toys, paints, crayons, modeling clay and the like.

How does one go about doing this after being entrenched in plastic toys and toxic materials? Small steps. We began with art supplies. We became more mindful of using natural and non-toxic brands, most of which are so well worth the extra money in in quality and durability. Right now we’re in the throes of revamping our toy situation. But that’s the subject for a whole new blog post or two or three or four . . .

For now though, check out Hip Mountain Mama’s inspiring blog – perfect for those of us who are incorporating more natural ways into our lives. Post a comment on her blog by the end of the month and be entered to win a bunch of cool, natural art products! Oh, and Hip Mountain Mama also has a shop by the same name.

I am continually inspired and amazed with the growth and organization of your site!

Thanks so much for introducing and expanding upon your ideas! To be able to teach and share natural and unfettered ways of living with our children is such a grand gift.

    Thank you!

    Greetings,

A new Farmers Market has organized in North Marion County. Conveniently located on US Hwy 441 just north of McIntosh, this market encourages homeschoolers to participate as vendors under the supervison of their parents. Market day is each Friday, 4:00PM to Dusk. Rain or Shine – so far we have been blessed with great weather since our opening day in May.

This is a private non-profit market named Our Village Market. We are holding our first major fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 24th. This is a fundraiser for InterFaith Emergency Services of Marion County and for the Farmers Market. We do not charge vendor fees and rely solely on donations.

The fundraiser; Harvest Village Hoe Down is a 1940’s/50s’ themed carnival style event complete with food, vintage car display, tailgate farmers market and a special section for the kids, Kids Play for Charity. Our local teens are planning the games for the kids.

We will have carnival prizes for the kids that are made in the USA. For example we will be giving away packets of Florida Wildflower seeds. Fall is the time to plant wildflower seeds for a great spring showing.

Hope some of the home school families will come out on Oct. 24th between 9:00AM & 3:00PM

Directions: The Harvest Village is halfway between Gainesville and Ocala on US Hwy 441. If you are travelling on I-75, exit at Micanopy from the north and from the south exit at CR 318( Irving/ Orange Lake)

    Happy Schooling and Learning.

    Judy Greenberg
    Our Village Market, Board Chairman
